Why is PRP important?

Platelets play a key role in the body’s natural healing process. Therefore, placing platelets directly in the area where we have lost what was once there may heal the area and possibly restore what was lost, whether it be hair, collagen, urinary continence or sexual function, to name a few.

WHAT is the process?

Approximately 20mL (4 teaspoons) of blood is drawn out of your arm. Then a specifically designed centrifuge is used to spin the blood separating the red blood cells from the plasma. Our numbing procedures are completed based off of what PRP procedure is being completed. Lastly, the area is cleaned and we inject the plasma in the area.

When should I get this done?

No specific age or time is required to get this done for any of the types of PRP procedures available. It depends on what your goals and symptoms are. Setting up a consultation with our PRP provider will be important as she will review your medical history and will help you determine if PRP is right for you.

PRP Vaginal Rejuvenation

PRP is used in the vaginal area to rejuvenate urinary and sexual function. For symptoms related to urinary incontinence due to child birth, PRP may help restore function in the area and possibly alleviate urinary incontinence issues.

For symptoms of sexual dysfunction including dryness, low libido, decreased or no orgasms, painful intercourse, undesirable cosmetic appearance, and decreased sensation, PRP may possibly restore you to the best sexual function you’ve ever had. This less than one hour procedure is usually only needed one time to alleviate your symptoms and is considered to produce little to no pain at any point of the procedure. Injections would take place after topical, cryo-, and local anesthesia. PRP injection sites typically include the clitoris and vaginal walls.

There is potential benefit to using PRP in the structures of the face to restore volume and elasticity in areas of lost volume related to aging. There is also potential benefit in cases of acne scarring. PRP in the face has it’s greatest potential when used in 3 cycles, with a separation of one month each.

PRP for Hair Restoration

This procedure is suited for causes of hair thinning in both male and female. Hair restoration with PRP has no benefit when completed in areas of complete baldness due to lack of blood supply to the hair follicles in that area. It is best to start treatment as soon as thinning is apparent.

Platelet-rich plasma injected along with a microneedling session and a syringe of HA dermal filler. Micro-needling and HA dermal filler are often coupled with the procedure for maximal benefit. The procedure takes place after topical anesthesia and lasts typically less than one hour.
